Australia’s Top Emerging Photographers Awards 2012

Entries Close 24th Feb 2012

Capture’s seventh annual awards showcasing some of the best of Australian photography is now open for entries. The awards aim to encourage and identify up and coming image-makers and promote them in the early stages of their photographic careers.

Entry into the awards is free and includes the following categories

• ADVERTISING
• ARCHITECTURE
• EDITORIAL & FASHION
• LANDSCAPE
• DOCUMENTARY & PHOTOJOURNALISM
• PORTRAIT
• SPORT
• WEDDING

Entries will be assessed by staff of the photographic magazines at Yaffa Publishing, who will develop shortlists for judging. These will be judged by a panel of leading professional photographers who will select a winner in each category, plus an overall winner who will be named Australia’s Top Emerging Photographer 2012.

Entrants to the awards must be photographers with less than four years’ full-time professional shooting.

Australia’s best emerging photographers celebrated in premium photobooks

Projections 2011 Presents the Pool Grant

Enter to win $10,000 towards your next project!

As part of their continued commitment to emerging talent, Pool are again proud to announce the $10,000 Pool Grant.

Now in it’s second year and open to all emerging photographers the $10,000 Pool Grant will assist one emerging photographer to research, create and produce a photographic project of their choice.

To be considered for the Pool Grant simply submit a proposal of no more than 300 words detailing how you envisage realising your project.

The jury will consist of Sean Izzard and Simon Harsent of Pool who will meet in August 2011 to decide on the grant recipient.

The winner will be announced in September 2011 and will have until the end of August 2012 to complete their project with the final body of work being shown as a part of Projections 2012.

It’s a Wrap!

The Projections 2010 national tour wrapped up with an intimate screening at Red Brick Studios in Brisbane on November 23. The screenings in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra were also a major success with an amazing mix of creative’s and supporters attending and a good time had by all.

For those of you who missed out, the Projections 2010 screening and photographs from the events will be posted on our website very soon.

A big congratulations to all the finalists and especially to Commercial category winner  - Katie Kolenberg, Editorial category winner – Hannah Robinson and Art category winner and overall winner Jeremy Blincoe. Also congratulations to Bridget Mac who has received the $10 000 Pool grant.

We would like to thank all our sponsors and the Projections committee for helping us make Projections 2010 the best so far and for all their hard work and passionate support of the awesome initiative that is Projections.

All finalists are invited to attend the Saatchi & Saatchi Master Class in February next year where they will learn more about how an advertising agency works, how to market themselves and get feedback on their portfolios.

But wait, there’s more – the people’s choice winner will be announced shortly. If you voted keep an eye out for the announcement as you could win a limited edition Projections 2010 hard cover book from Momento Pro.

Projections 2010 Brisbane Screening Announced

It is confirmed! Projections 2010 Brisbane Screening will be held at Red Brick Studios on Tuesday 23rd November.

Don’t forget to get your tickets for the Sydney screening this Tuesday the 16th Nov and the Brisbane screening here and enjoy the amazing work of Australia’s latest and greatest Emerging Photographers as well as free drinks and canapes.

The Canberra Screening is to be held this Thursday the 18th Nov at M16 Artspace. Entry is free of charge!

The dates for the Projections screenings 2010 have been announced!! Here’s some dates for your diary:

Projections Melbourne – Tues 9th November @ The Astor Theatre

Projections Sydney – Tues 16th November @ The Chauvel

Projections Canberra – Thurs 18th November @ M16 Artspace (free entry)

You can purchase tickets for the Sydney and Melbourne events here. Tickets are $30 a pop for non-members and $25 for ACMP members, and include drinks courtesy of our beer and wine sponsors. Book early to avoid disappointment! Last years screenings in Melbourne and Sydney sold out!!

ACMP in association with alpha from Sony is pleased to announce that the 2010 call for entries is now open.   We’re still getting a few finishing touches done on the registration section of the website but it’s only a few days away now.   Please email admin@acmp.com.au to be placed on the mailing list which will notify you when the website is open for registrations/entries.

2010 will continue the amazing momentum of 09 which saw awesome screenings to sold out  audiences in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane as well as a Canberra show.  The screening was also distributed on DVD to over 13,000 creatives. Finalists also received the amazing Saatchi matsreclass and portfolio review, alpha dSLR’s from Sony, advertising in Create09, Momento vouchers, Crumpler bags, and most importantly the opportunity to be noticed by the best creatives in the country. If you want you’re work seen and to kickstart your career, there’s no better place than Projections.

Projection 2009 Print Exhibition

See the work of Projections 09 finalists up close!

As an extension of the extremely successful Projections 09 screenings in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra and Brisbane, ACMP in association with Sony and Saatchi & Saatchi are proud to announce the launch of the Projections 09 Photographic Print Exhibition in Sydney.

The exhibition opening will be held on September 10th 2009, 6:30pm at  Saatchi & Saatchi gallery, 70 George St, The Rocks and will feature limited edition prints from the finalists going up for auction.

A huge well done to our 2009 overall and art category winner Lee Grant with her series Belco Pride.  Congratulations also to our other category winners Kristian Taylor-Wood (Commercial) and George Voulgaropolous (editorial) for their awesome work.  Not forgetting our other finalists Shane Rozario, Dan O’Day, Stewart Leishman, Stephen David, Ward Roberts, Mikael Wardhana, Andrew Barbaczy, Craig Proudford, Billy Law, Natalie Grono, Hamish Gregory and Harrison Saragossi who without exception have created work of the highest quality.  Check it out yourselves be following the finalists link on the left.  Don’t forget to vote for your favourite series in the peoples choice awards and win yourself a Sony camera.

Entries are now officially closed so thank you to all who entered and best of luck. We’ve had a big increase in entries again this year with entries from every state except tassie. Judging is about to commence and finalists will be announced in mid April. Screenings and announcement of the 2009 winners will be happening at the end of may so stay tuned for more details.
