The Herd Monster – Susannah Wimberley

This series is the result of an album artwork pitch for the single The Sum of it All by Aussie Hip Hop band The Herd. There was one catch – the artists could not all be present at once.

Collaborating with Jane Tyrrell (female vocalist in The Herd and visual artist) we came up with the idea of creating one face out of all eight faces – the sum of them all.

I wanted the final spliced images to have their own expression and identity, like a single portrait might, while still showing the separation in the whole – the same way that a band comes together from single instruments.

The single portraits of the band members was intended as a reaction to their Frankensteined counterparts.
