The Taste of Ink – Jaimie Brasier
Western culture is currently experiencing a shift away from the negative stereotypes that come with tattoos. Tattoos are becoming much more common and accepted for both men and women, within different classes and all walks of life.
My series ‘The Taste of Ink’ documents the colourful characters and events at the Sydney Tattoo and Body Art Expo 2010. It reflects the sense of acceptance, community and respect that is shared by those who are tattooed – where a person’s choice to put art on their body is encouraged and not frowned upon as it often has been under the judgmental eyes of society and what is considered ‘normal’.
